LEAWOOD, KAN, (December 30, 2010) — Reflecting on the year 2010, Mayer Hoffman McCann P.C. (MHM), has much to celebrate this New Year. With six MHM Shareholders in the Kansas City office having spent almost their entire career at the firm, MHM celebrates its focus on employee retention and providing opportunities for employees to grow.
“In our recruiting efforts we focus in on the fact that we want people to choose to make MHM their career, not just a job stop on their journey,” states Roxanne LaMonica, the office’s Recruiting Manager.
Kansas City headquartered Mayer Hoffman McCann P.C. has seen tremendous growth since its inception in 1954. What started as a single location accounting firm has grown and flourished, working together through a strategic alliance with CBIZ, Inc., to become the 7th largest accounting provider in the nation. Much of its success is due to the strong foundation that was created for the firm. Founders Ernie Mayer and Bill Hoffman felt strongly about a high level of client service and providing growth opportunities to employees. They sought the right kind of people to join the firm, people who would exhibit those qualities and would come to be future leaders of the firm, carrying forward in the same fashion. “We know these values have led to the success of the firm and the clients we serve, and we continually work to instill them firm wide”, states Bill Hancock, President of MHM.
Not only is it impressive to have so many people with tenure at an organization in today’s business environment, but especially after going through a significant merger transaction of MHM’s tax and consulting practice with CBIZ 12 years ago. It has been such a positive relationship, whereby the two entities can work seamlessly together for the benefit of our clients. As these Shareholders celebrate 30 plus years at the firm, they agree the reason they are all still here, and the reason the firm continues to be successful and grow the way it has, is because of the strong foundation the firm was built on, and the excellent core values that are instilled in every employee. “I have been blessed to have found a career that I love where I am able to work with both clients and partners who I truly care about, which has allowed me to grow as I have been able to contribute to their success”, states Scott Slabotsky, head of the Kansas City Real Estate Practice.
